SPP set up an Early Career Professionals group in 2021, to develop an output for those members with fewer than 6 years in pensions. One key driver was the acknowledgement that the lack of in-person networking opportunities since lockdown had disproportionately impacted ECPs. We have programmed a series of events aimed at this group, which are hybrid to enable those who can attend in-person to benefit from that. A wide range of additional activities have also been developed to support the professional development of ECPs.

Events
Our programme of events for ECPs is designed to tackle technical topics in an accessible way and to explore broader development issues. Where we can, we hold these events as hybrid (online and in-person), to allow those who can join in the room to speak with the speakers and peers afterwards.
We hope that by generating valuable networking opportunities with new connections and distinguished pension industry leaders, we will provide you with important connections for your future. All our events are recorded and later uploaded here so you never miss out on important content.

Connecting you to build your networks
To support you in growing your professional circle, we run a programme to connect you to other ECPs, with a range of pension professions. You can join up to this scheme on your own or with a colleague. We will then match you up, connect you and it will be for you to take forward as works best. We then encourage you to join an in-person event, to further widen your connections.

Observing SPP Technical Committees
We have a range of technical committees and groups that meet regularly to work on key policy issues and respond to formal consultations. These are: Legislation, DB, DC, Covenant, Investment, Administration, Financial Services Regulation, Public Sector and CDC. Further details and terms of reference can be viewed here.
Our ECPs are welcome to join a meeting as an observer. These are mostly held online and if you are interested, please email info@the-spp.co.uk
